Romantic Rainy Wedding Day | Pebble Creek
The week before Valerie and Carlos’ wedding, I met them at their venue to do a little bit of “scouting” for portrait time. We knew they had a rather tight timeline and wanted to be ultra-prepared for the big day. Scouting locations is not usually something I would suggest, simply because light changes so much depending on the time of year and time of day…but since it was the week of the wedding and we went at the exact same time as we would be shooting on the wedding day, we made an exception. I thought, “this is perfect!!” Little did we know, our scouting would become a moot point.
A couple days before, Valerie and I start realizing the weather forecast was NOT changing…RAIN was coming. Not just a little rain, a whole day of rain! At the time, I was remembering back to my own wedding two years prior at the same time of year and how it felt to have the possibility of rain looming over our wedding day…not fun. However, I reassured Valerie that no matter what, rain wasn’t going to keep them from becoming husband and wife and it was not going to stop us from getting beautiful portraits. It may have been a bit different than our original plan from the venue scouting trip, but the rain was NOT going to diminish the joy of their wedding and their time with family and friends.
And it definitely didn’t! It was a wonderful day filled with love and joy with family and friends and we were honored to be part of it!

Blush pink, cream, and green were the tones for the day and it was perfect!

Valerie and Carlos both have a strong bond with their families and had many family members travel from Mexico to be with them which was so special! Valerie’s Aunt and Grandmother helped her get into her dress.

Beautiful bride, inside and out!

Instead of a first look with Carlos, Valerie decided to do a first look with her dad. She has a very special relationship with him and their first look made me cry. It was so sweet to see his reaction to his beautiful daughter.

Their puppies were in the wedding too!!

Powerful and emotional ceremony for everyone!

For about 30 minutes, the rain stopped just in time for us to get some portraits!! Hallelujah!!

Off to the reception!

Their reception was so. much. fun. The best part was definitely the hora loca when EVERYONE got up on the dance floor, grabbed a prop, and participated. There was definitely some cha cha, a conga line, and the limbo and it was fantastic. The very end of the night featured a mariachi band!
