A Spring Wedding at Palace Event Center | Treynor, Iowa
One of the hard realities of planning a wedding is the realization that things can change from what you originally envisioned. I remember facing that truth when planning my own outdoor wedding and our planner impressing upon us the importance of liking the backup option just as much as the first choice. This is such good advice! No one ever wants to go to plan “B”, but sometimes the weather just doesn’t cooperate. However, plan “B” at the Palace Event Center in Treynor, Iowa didn’t feel like a backup plan at all. Marissa and Nate chose such a beautiful venue and it made switching the ceremony from outside to inside a great choice!
Marissa is my husband Cody’s younger sister, so this was a very special wedding to be part of. I felt so honored to be able to serve them on their wedding day! Marissa did a lot of DIY. She paid such great attention to detail and it all came together just beautifully! She put together the bouquets and planned every little part of the reception decor. Cody’s other sister, Deena, made their cake and it was SO delicious. On the morning of the wedding, we all drove out to the venue and helped set up the reception tables before Marissa’s hair and makeup artist arrived. The morning went by so fast! Before we knew it, we were getting her in her dress!
Because they live in Omaha, Nebraska, we don’t get to see Marissa and Nate very often. We met Nate last summer over July 4th weekend and then I had the chance to be with them for their proposal and engagement session in November 2020. We could tell that there was something special about Nate and this was definitely confirmed throughout the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, and the wedding day. The love he shows Marissa is so sweet. It was also apparent that these qualities are ones he takes after his parents. They were such a pleasure to be around and the relationship Nate has with his family is one for the books. I’m so thankful Marissa can now call them family too! The love and support for Marissa and Nate from their families, friends, and church family made for a joyous, unforgettable day!
There’s no way I can choose a favorite part of the day. The details were feminine and perfectly colorful. The ceremony, officiated by their Uncle Tim, was both sweet and funny. The food trucks for dinner were unique and delicious– absolutely worth braving the light rain! Their first dance was intimate and epic at the same time. The sunset portraits we got after the rain let up were STUNNING. I can’t wait for you to see the highlights of this day!!
Marissa and Nate, we love you and hope you’re having a blast on your honeymoon!!
